American Rust season 2 trailer has been released, featuring Jeff Daniels, who finally gets his badge back for a second season on Prime Video later this month.
American Rust, a TV series cancelled two years ago by Showtime, has returned to a new streaming platform. The show features most of its original cast, including Jeff Daniels, who plays the role of police chief Del Harris. The storyline revolves around investigating a murder conspiracy that seems to be affecting the small town of Buell, Pennsylvania.
Adapted from Philipp Meyer’s highly acclaimed novel with the same title, which continues exploring life in the fictional town of Buell, located in southwest Pennsylvania, which embodies the broken American Dream in a Rust Belt town. The narrative is told from the perspective of police chief Del Harris. Harris finds himself in a difficult situation when the son of the woman he loves, Tierney, is accused of murder. He is then forced to make a decision on how far he’s willing to go to protect him.
In the first season of American Rust, Harris could not solve the mysteries of the town of Buell. However, in the second season’s trailer, we see a series of unrelated murders taking place while Del and Grace Poe are trying to rebuild their lives after facing compromise. The murders are suspected to be a part of a bigger conspiracy, and the tight-knit community of Buell fears they may be exposed soon.
Daniels and Tierney are joined by returning stars David Alvarez (West Side Story), Alex Neustaedter (Colony), Julie Mayorga (Rare Objects), Mark Pellegrino (Supernatural), Rob Yang (Succession) and Kyle Beltran
(Inventing Anna). Julie Mayorga will reprise her role as Lee English, who will face moral dilemmas in combating corruption while helping Billy readjust after his near-death experience in prison.
Joining the cast for Season 2 are Luna Lauren Velez (Dexter) as Detective Angela Burgos, Nick Sandow (Orange Is the New Black) as Mike Orr, Britian Seibert (A Murder at the End of the World) as Cynthia Frazier, Marc Menchaca (Ozark) as Vic Walker, Christopher Denham (Billions) as Russell Wolff, Amelia Workman (FBI) as Rinna Bransford, Leon Addison Brown (The Knick) as Chief Bolt and Sara Lindsey (High Desert) as Maya Park.
Dan Futterman returns as showrunner and executive producer, joined by Adam Rapp, Paul Martino, Michael De Luca, Ivan Schneeberg, David Fortier, Nick Nantell, Katie O’Connell Marsh and Elisa Ellis. Boat Rocker produces the series for Amazon.
All 10 episodes of American Rust: Broken Justice will be available on March 28, 2024, exclusively on Prime Video in the U.S., UK, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.
