Dune 2: Box Office Collection, whopping $75 million-plus in its opening weekend

Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated sequel, featuring a star-studded cast led by Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, made an impressive $32.1 million on its opening day at the North American box office, including $12 million in previews. The movie is expected to earn between $72 million to $75 million over its opening weekend, which is almost double the earnings of the first film ($40 million) and marks the highest opening of the year so far.

According to rival studios, it is expected that the movie Dune 2 will open with a box office collection of $77 to $78 million. Dune 2 is the latest installment in the Dune franchise and is currently performing exceptionally well at the global box office. After a successful preview period, the film continues to attract audiences and make an impressive showing on the big screen. The movie has received excellent reviews and an A CinemaScore, which is better than the first part’s A-.

Over the weekend, Dune 2 was released in 71 international markets and has been doing well in territories where it opened earlier in the week. Prior to the weekend, industry experts predicted that the movie would earn $74 million in the US. However, Warner Bros. took a more conservative approach and projected a domestic opening of $65 million, along with an overseas opening of $75 million. 

Dune 2 had a great start, earning $12 million through Thursday previews and $32.2 million on Friday in the domestic market. In the overseas market, it earned $42.4 million by the end of Friday. It is expected to earn $75-$85 million domestically and $95-$110 million overseas during the opening weekend, bringing the global weekend collection to around $170-$195 million.
