‘Dune Prophecy’ Trailer: Prequel Series Gets Fall Premiere On Max

Dune Prophecy

The highly-anticipated TV prequel of Max, ‘Dune: Prophecy ‘, has unveiled its first trailer. Set ‘10,000 years before the birth of Paul Atreides, before the universe knew them as the Bene Gesserit…’, this six-episode series is a unique exploration of the ‘Dune’ universe. While the premiere date is yet to be announced, it’s expected to grace our screens this fall. The teaser was first unveiled during Wednesday’s Warner Bros. Discovery Upfront presentation in New York City.

The heart of the series lies in the universe of Frank Herbert’s epic “Dune” novel series. This sci-fi series is inspired by “Dune: The Sisterhood”, penned by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. The narrative unfolds through the enigmatic order of women, the Bene Gesserit. Endowed with extraordinary abilities through their mastery of the body and the mind, the Bene Gesserit navigate the feudal politics and intrigue of The Imperium, pursuing their own plans that will ultimately lead them to the mysterious planet Arrakis, known to its inhabitants as Dune.

The official logline states, “From the expansive universe of ‘Dune,’ created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, ‘Dune: Prophecy’ follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit.”

“Dune Prophecy” was initially commissioned in 2019. This upcoming series on Max isn’t the first TV adaptation; previously, it was a three-part Syfy miniseries that aired in 2000, which was followed by the 2003 follow-up “Children of Dune.” The 2020 “Dune” was released in the big theaters, followed by the latest 2024 “Dune: Part Two” released, which made its benchmark in the top-grossing movie this year with a count of $710 million worldwide at the box office.

Alison Schapker serves as showrunner and executive producer. Diane Ademu-John co-developed the series and serves as executive producer. Anna Foerster directs multiple episodes, including the first episode, and also serves as executive producer.
