HBO’s “Hacks” is returning with a brand-new season 3, featuring Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder rejoining the cast. HBO Max has released first trailer for upcoming season.
The highly anticipated season 3 will premiere on Max on May 2 with its first two episodes. The series will then premiere two new episodes a week before it concludes with its finale on May 30.
The previous season 2 of “Hacks” ended with a particularly complicated situation. Ava was taken aback when Deborah terminated her at the end of the last season, a decision that was made for Ava’s own benefit but still hurt her feelings in the process. Deborah decided that the best move for Ava’s career and personal life would be to let her go.
Here’s this season’s logline: “A year after parting, Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) is riding high off the success of her standup special while Ava (Hannah Einbinder) pursues new opportunities back in Los Angeles.”
Smart and Einbinder star along with Paul W. Downs, Megan Stalter, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Kaitlin Olson, Christopher McDonald, Mark Indelicato, Rose Abdoo and Lorenza Izzo. Guest stars this installment include J. Smith-Cameron, Helen Hunt, Christina Hendricks, Christopher Lloyd, Dan Bucatinsky, George Wallace, Tony Goldwyn, and Aristotle Athari.
Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky are the show’s executive producers. Downs and Aniello executive produce the series through their Paulilu banner, while Statsky EPs via First Thought Productions. Michael Schur, David Miner and Morgan Sackett are also executive producers of Hacks, which comes from Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
