‘Hit Man’ Trailer:  Richard Linklater’s starring Glen Powell and Adria Arjona.

In the first trailer for Richard Linklater’s Hit Man, Powell’s portrayal of a fake contract killer working undercover for the police is nothing short of thrilling, promising an adrenaline-fueled ride for the audience. Hit Man’s release date on Netflix is June 7, with limited theatrical screenings starting May 24.

Based on journalist Skip Hollandsworth’s 2001 Texas Monthly article by the same name. The upcoming movie was penned by Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick) and Richard Linklater (Boyhood), with Powell starring and Linklater directing. Other stars in the film include Adria Arjona, Retta, Austin Amelio, Mike Markoff, Molly Bernard, Morgana Shaw, and Evan Holtzman.

Powell, portraying the role of ‘Gray’, a Houston police officer, is caught up in his job transition into undercover and trying to catch a group of criminals posing as a hitman. However, his mission becomes complicated when a woman hires him to kill her husband. Gray develops feelings for this woman. As he delves deeper into the world of crime, he struggles to maintain his true identity and distance himself from his undercover persona.


Hit Man Cast

The trailer features Powell’s monologue, “My name is Gary Johnson, and I’m a fake hit man.” It then showcases Powell in various costumes, each representing a different undercover persona. This sets up the thrilling dynamic of Gary Johnson navigating his secret life while also pursuing romantic escapades. Powell has an impressive presence throughout his latest trailer, complying with his performance. While the film gives a thrilling vibe, it should be noted that it also has excellent potential in sharp comedy. 

The movie is produced by a team of industry veterans, including Mike Blizzard, Richard Linklater, Glen Powell, and Aggregate’s Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan. The executive producers are Stuart Ford, Zach Garrett, Miguel A. Palos Jr., Cinetic Media’s John Sloss, ShivHans Pictures’ Shivani Rawat and Julie Goldstein, Monarch Media’s Vicky Patel, Steve Barnett and Alan Powell, and Texas Monthly’s Scott Brown and Megan Creydt. The film was shot in the vibrant city of New Orleans, adding to its authentic crime movie feel.
