The movie ‘Hungry Ghost Diner’, directed by We Jun Cho, is already streaming on Netflix. The unique story is the screenplay by We Jun Cho, with co-writers Sebastian Ng and Jacky Yeap.

The film stars Keat Yoke Chen as Bonnie, Eric Chen as Bobby, Sam Chong as Ah Kiu and Fabian Loo as Kit.

The story is based on ancient spiritual beliefs that suggest when a person dies a violent death, their soul is gradually released into space. There is also a traditional festival called the “Hungry Ghost Festival,” which is mainly celebrated in Chinese culture. It is believed that during this festival, the souls of the deceased come to visit the living ones.

The film is about a young woman named Bonnie Lam, who finds herself stranded in her hometown during the pandemic lockdown. She decides to visit her family-owned old coffee shop and soon discovers that the ghosts of her deceased relatives haunt it every year during the Hungry Ghost Festival, a traditional festival in the area.
