Jennifer Lopez in a battle against Simu Liu (AI villain) in the ‘Atlas’ Trailer

Atlas

Jennifer Lopez battles with computer technology to hunt arch-enemy Harlan in the trailer of ‘Atlas’. She takes the role of data analyst Atlas Shepherd who initially mistrusts the AI technology but finds herself taking help from it on her mission.

The trailer unveils the story’s villain, played by Simu Liu—an artificial intelligence named  Harlan whom Atlas has long hunted and is now shown to have nearly ended humanity after first being engineered to advance it. Atlas joins a mission to capture a renegade robot with whom she shares a mysterious past. Atla’s plans go awry, so to save the future of humanity from AI, Atlas learns to trust AI.

In a pivotal scene from the trailer, Harlan launches an attack on Lopez’s mission team, forcing her to flee to a far-off planet in pursuit of a renegade robot. Here, she forms an unlikely alliance with a computer program named Smith. Initially resistant to the AI voice installed in her arc suit, Smith, but in order to survive and defeat Harlam, Lopez needed to trust it. Also, in one of the shots from the trailer, Smith says, “Atlas, this won’t work if you don’t trust me”. Lopez’s character gradually learns to trust it as her plans veer off-course. In a moment of desperation, she calls out for Smith’s help, a stark contrast to her initial distrust.

Brad Peyton directs ‘Atlas’ from a script by Leo Sardarian and Aron Eli Coleite. Producers include Peyton, Lopez, Jeff Fierson, Joby Harold, Tory Tunnell, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Benny Medina, Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. Sterling K. Brown, Gregory James Cohan, Abraham Popoola, Lana Parrilla and Mark Strong also star in.
