Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated TV series X-Men ’97 first trailer has been dropped. The show serves as a continuation of X-Men: The Animated Series that aired on Fox from 1992 to 1997.
Beau DeMayo serves as head writer; episodes are directed by Jake Castorena, Chase Conley and Emi Yonemura. Featuring music by The Newton Brothers, the series is executive produced by Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and DeMayo.
“The X-Men are back! ‘X-Men ‘97’ takes us back to the iconic era of the 1990s, where a group of mutants with incredible abilities use their powers to protect a world that is afraid of them. In this new season, the X-Men face a greater challenge than ever before as they are forced to confront an uncertain and hazardous future.”
Marvel announced the X-Men ’97 animated show on Disney+ in November 2021, along with other upcoming animated Marvel shows like “Spider-Man: Freshman Year,” “Marvel Zombies,” and “What If…?” Season 2. Now, in 2024, it is finally ready for streaming. The 10-episode Season of X-Men ’97 will premiere on Disney+ on Wednesday, March 20.
Some veteran actors from The X-Men: Animated Series still hold their place for the new sequel and return with new roles. They include Catherine Disher, the original Jean Grey, who now voices Dr. Valerie Cooper. Chris Potter, the original Gambit, is now playing Cable/Nathan Summers. Lawrence Bayne, the original Cable, is now playing Carl Dentil/X-Cutioner. Ron Rubin, the original Morph, is now playing President Robert Edward Kelly. Finally, Alyson Court, the original Jubilee, is now playing Abscissa.
The list of newly added voice cast members for the project includes some talented individuals, which feature Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, JP Karliak as Morph, Lenore Zann as Rogue, George Buza as Beast, AJ LoCascio as Gambit, Holly Chou as Jubilee, Isaac Robinson-Smith as Bishop, Matthew Waterson as Magneto and Adrian Hough as Nightcrawler.
