Prime Video has recently released the trailer for ‘Música’, directed by Rudy Mancuso, who is well-known for his role in ‘Tempo’ and ‘Stories From Our Future’. Starring stars Rudy Mancuso, who has based the film on his personal experiences. He has also served as the movie’s director, co-writer, composer, and choreographer.
Mancuso and Dan Lagana (“American Vandal,” The Babysitter: Killer Queen) wrote the script for this project. Produced by McG (“Supernatural,” “Chuck”) and Mary Viola (The Babysitter, Love Hard). Executive producers include Camila Mendes, Bruce Wayne Gillies, Dan Lagana and Steven Bello (The DUFF, Holidate).
The feature celebrates its world premiere in March at SXSW before making its way onto Prime Video. The movie follows the story of a college student who is trying to balance his studies with his love for performing puppet shows on the streets of the close-knit Brazilian community of Ironbound. Although he struggles to convince his girlfriend, Haley (Francesca Reale), that he will eventually find his way in life, his mother, Maria (played by the actor’s real-life mother, Maria Mancuso), wants him to date a Brazilian girl from their neighbourhood instead of Haley.
In the trailer, a giant fish flies through the air and hits Rudy in the face with an encounter with Isabella (Camila Mendes), a beautiful young Brazilian woman who works in the local fish market. Isabela seems to understand Rudy better than anyone else ever has. However, Rudy finds himself caught in a love triangle and must navigate his cultural heritage, his relationships with the women in his life, and the Música that he hears in his head.
Mancuso holds the project “Música” close to his heart as it gave him the opportunity to showcase his Brazilian culture to the world. To enhance the romantic aspect of the story that viewers will experience on their screens at home, Mancuso and Mendes are a real-life couple. This adds another layer of art, imitating life and Mancuso’s experience with synesthesia to the screenplay.
The cast stars include Francesca Reale (“Stranger Things,” “Haters Back Off!”), Camila Mendes (“Riverdale,” Palm Springs), J.B. Smoove (“Curb Your Enthusiasm,” Spider-Man: Far From Home) and Rudy Mancuso (Rim of the World, The Flash).
During its world premiere at SXSW, Música will be screened alongside other films, such as Dev Patel’s Monkey Man and Nicolas Cage’s Arcadian, to name a few. Additionally, the religious horror thriller Immaculate, led by Sydney Sweeney, will also be featured.
Música will be available to stream on Prime Video on April 4th.
