‘Red, White & Royal Blue 2’ in pre-production, With Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez Return

The highly anticipated sequel to ‘Red, White & Royal Blue’ is officially in the works at Amazon MGM Studios, and fans can rejoice as their beloved stars Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez are set to reprise their roles. This return of the original cast promises to bring back the same magic that captivated audiences in the first installment. Based on Casey McQuiston’s New York Times best-selling novel, the film will be directed by Matthew López, who has already also previously worked with Part 1 of this sequel.

The previous Part 1 , which captivated audiences with its unique blend of romance and political intrigue, followed the story of Alex Claremont-Diaz, the First Son of the United States, and Prince Henry, third in line to the British throne. It chronicled their journey from bitter enemies to passionate lovers, all while they kept their relationship a secret to avoid becoming international media sensations.

“Red, White & Royal Blue” became an instant sensation when it premiered on Amazon Prime Video in August 2023, quickly climbing to the top of the platform’s Top 10 movie list. Its popularity not only delighted the fans but also sparked a frenzy on social media, with many speculating about the possibility of a sequel. In November 2023, McQuiston subtly hinted at the possibility of a sequel in an interview with Out magazine, which further fueled excitement among fans. The success of the first installment is a testament to the fans’ love and support, making the anticipation for the sequel even more thrilling.

While the plot of the sequel remains a mystery, the air is thick with anticipation and speculation. Fans are eagerly predicting the next chapter in Henry and Alex’s love story, with some even envisioning a wedding at the end of the sequel. It’s just a prediction, though there is no official word on when the frothy follow-up to Henry and Alex’s enemies-to-lovers story will be coming. The guessing game extends to the cast as well, with fans wondering who among the original stars will also make a comeback.

It’s a thrilling guessing game to wonder who among the original cast — including Uma Thurman as Alex’s mother, President Ellen Claremont; Clifton Collins Jr. as Sen. Oscar Diaz, Alex’s father; Sarah Shahi as Zahra, President Claremont’s deputy chief of staff; Rachel Hilson as Nora, Alex’s best friend; and Stephen Fry as King James III, Henry’s grandfather — will also make a comeback. Amazon MGM has yet to reveal whether the sequel will debut on streaming or in theaters, adding to the suspense.

Ever since the film’s debut, Galitzine and Perez have been continuously participating in the FYC circuit. Additionally, Galitzine has also been busy promoting his lead roles in the Starz limited series “Mary & George” (where he portrays the consort of King James I) and the romantic Prime Video movie “The Idea of You” (where he plays a boy band member who romances Anne Hathaway).
