‘The Asunta Case’ Trailer: Murder Mystery Inspired by true events where Parents were found Guilty of Murdering their Daughter. 

The Asunta Case

Netflix launched the trailer for ‘The Asunta Case’, a mini series based on Spanish true crime events from 2013. This murder mystery was the horrific news that shook not only the city but the entire country. The series stars Candela Peña and Tristán Ulloa as the main leads.

Directed by Jacobo Martínez, based on the true murder of Asunta Basterra, a 12-year-old child who was killed a few days before her 13th birthday. Produced by Bambú Producciones.

The series consists of a total of six episodes, which will premiere on April 26. Along with Carlos Blanco and Tristán Ulloa, the cast includes Javier Gutiérrez, Alicia Borrachero, María León, Francesc Orella, and Rosario Porto, amongst others, in key roles.

The trailer takes us through the story briefly, giving us small glimpses of the series. It opens into a concern phase when the parents are seen worried for their disappeared daughter, pleading to the police to find her. The trailer takes a turn to a guilty phase where it is shown the evidence which points out that the mother of the child was continuously drugging her to which her husband was consistenscy seen defending. Later, the scene is shown when both parents are behind bars and having conversation from different rooms still refusing to accept their crime.

Plot:
On September 21, 2013, Spanish couple Rosario Porto and Alfonso Basterra filed a report on the disappearance of their adopted daughter, Asunta Basterra. The police soon issued a search team to find the girl. When police found Asunta’s dead body next to a road outside of the pilgrimage city of Santiago de Compostela and, the body of the child was witnessed with her limbs bound by a rope. Later, police soon discovered unexpected evidence that pointed towards the parents of the child, Rosario and Alfonso. 

After the investigation, its result shook all of Spain as it was made clear that Rosario and Alfonso were found guilty of drugging their daughter for three months with Lorazepam (a name of medicine) before choking her to death.
