Lionsgate debuted the trailer for ‘The Crow’, directed by Rupert Sanders and based on the graphic novel by James O’Barr—stars featuring Bill Skarsgård in the lead role of Eric Draven with British singer FKA Twigs as Shelly Webster. The upcoming remake marks the fifth installment in The Crow film series. ‘The Crow’ remake is set for release on June 7.
Alex Proyas directed the 1994 original version based on the same graphic novel by James O’Barr, which featured rising star Brandon Lee, son of Bruce Lee, as Eric Draven. Tragically, during production, Lee died at the age of 28 when a prop gun shot him on the set of the film. Despite the devastating loss, the film was eventually completed and released, leaving an indelible mark on audiences worldwide.
The trailer opens up with the blissful love story between Eric Draven (Skarsgård) and Shelly Webster (FKA twigs). Unfortunately, their happiness is short-lived, as they are both murdered. However, Eric rewinds imbued supernatural power from the dead to live to avenge his fiancée. In the trailer, the voiceover says,” When someone dies, a crow carries their soul to the land of the dead. But sometimes so bad happens that the soul cannot rest. Until you put the wrong thing right”.
The trailer shows a glimpse of violence, brutal murder, death and the sight of fierce desire for revenge. It also showcases the new power Eric shot through his own chest to take down a surprise attacker and then remove a sword from his own body to finish the job.
