Wicked villain Sauron is back!!
Prime Video has unleashed a thrilling whirlwind of adventure with the trailer for the fantasy action-packed series ‘The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of The Power’. The first look focuses on the rise of the formidable Sauron(Charlie Vickers) during Middle-earth’s Second Age, as he cunningly disguises himself as an elf to assist Celebrimbor in forging the rings of power.

A moment fans have been eagerly awaiting has finally unveiled its release date set to premiere on Aug. 29, along with the trailer, and the premiere date in New York City is on Tuesday as part of its upfront presentation to advertisers. This news ignited a wave of excitement among the devoted fanbase. The Rings of Power‘s second season is from returning showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne & Patrick McKay. Directors this season include the return of Charlotte Brändström along with Sanaa Hamri and Louise Hooper.

In J.R.R. Tolkien’s Second Age, Sauron, played by Charlie Vickers, returns with a striking new look and is set to deceive the denizens of Middle-earth, bringing a wave of sinister darkness. The trailer hints at the return of many beloved characters from season 1, such as Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), Elrond (Robert Aramayo), Arondir (Ismael Cruz Córdova) and Isildur (Maxim Baldry), all preparing for the impending battle. Another character making a comeback from season 1 is Stranger (Daniel Weyman), now seen wielding a wooden staff. Weyman’s true identity, revealed in the previous season, was that of one of the wizards (a.k.a. the Istari) who later populated Middle-earth.

Here’s the official description: “In Season Two of The Rings of Power, Sauron has returned. Cast out by Galadriel, without army or ally, the rising Dark Lord must now rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, which will allow him to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will. Building on Season One’s epic scope and ambition, the new season plunges even its most beloved and vulnerable characters into a rising tide of darkness, challenging each to find their place in a world that is increasingly on the brink of calamity. Elves and dwarves, orcs and men, wizards and Harfoots… as friendships are strained and kingdoms begin to fracture, the forces of good will struggle ever more valiantly to hold on to what matters to them most of all… each other.”

On May 9, Warner Bros. announced details about its new LOTR movie, titled The Hunt for Gollum, which is set during Tolkien’s Second Age where Andy Serkis will return as Gollum in the first of two new live-action “Rings” movies. Serkis will also direct the film, tentatively titled “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum,” and the studio has slated it for release in 2026. Peter Jackson, director of the original trilogy, will produce the movie.
