The 2018 series ‘The Mire’, starring Dawid Ogrodnik, Zofia Wichalcz and Andrzej Seweryn, won the Polish Film Academy’s Eagle Award for best series and is back with its final season.
The two seasons have been released on Netflix. Season 1, titled The Mire released in 2018, is the story of an early 80s Polish town where a prostitute and a youth leader are found killed in the gronty forest, but the police’s way of handling the case makes two journalists suspicious. Season 2, titled “The Mire ’97”, was released in 2021. The season’s events occurred in the 1990s when another body was discovered in Gronty forest. This event led to uncovering corruption, scams during that period, and long-hidden secrets from WWII.
The upcoming dark thriller film is streaming on Netflix on February 28.
The final season is approaching, bringing with it a broader context for old cases. Unexpected secrets from the past must be solved as they catch up with the characters, and the secrets from the gronty forest must be uncovered.
