HBO’s mystery crime anthology series, True Detective: Night Country, final season has officially solved most of its mysteries but yet some threads are left a little to the imagination for us armchair detectives.

The biggest question of the viewers has been revealed. Initially, the question turns over from “Who killed those men”? to “Who killed Annie?”. Annie realized scientists’ involvement in corrupt shenanigans, which is later confirmed & figured out by the cleaning crew when they inadvertently find the opening to the ice cave research lab. Thus, Annie was killed by scientists to forestall the lab’s secret.

Many women working in the research station who self-claimed as Annie’s community decided to take matters into their own hands to get justice for Annie by forcing the scientists at gunpoint out onto the ice, where they claim they instructed the men to get naked and then simply left them there, but didn’t actually kill them but left to die. The women explain their actions in a story told to officers Danvers and Navarro, which satisfies Danvers, who later tells corporate an avalanche killed the men, neglecting to mention the women’s involvement. We also learn that after the investigation, Navarro disappeared, but Danvers claims not to know anything about that.
