Written and directed by Daina O. Pusić, this film marks her feature directorial debut. The main cast includes Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lola Petticrew, and Arinze Kene.
The film by Pusić was produced and financed by A24 Films and BBC Film, with additional support from BFI and Cinereach. The film’s plot is the most amazing mother-daughter fairytale of the mother (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) and her teenage daughter (Lola Petticrew), who must confront Death when it arrives in the form of an astonishing talking bird.
Along with A24, producers include Ivana MacKinnon for Wild Swim Films, Helen Gladders for Gingerbread Pictures and Oliver Roskill.
The film premiered at the 50th Telluride Film Festival on Sept. 1. The date has yet to be announced, but it is predicted to be released by this summer.
“The movie explores the human fear of mortality and the concept of the end. The plot revolves around the deep bond shared by a mother, Zora, and her terminally ill teenage daughter, Tuesday. The young girl encounters Death in the form of a magical Parrot. However, a young girl is able to convince Death to have a brief stay and bath. To say her last goodbyes to her mother and when Zora learns of her daughter’s dire condition, she must confront the reality of their situation and come to terms with her own mortality.
