Hulu dropped the trailer for ‘Under the Bridge’ this Monday, based on the true events from 1997, directed by Geeta Patel, who also serves as executive producer—starring the pairing of Oscar nominee Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon) and Emmy nominee Riley Keough (Daisy Jones and the Six) as the detective team.
Adapted on the best-selling true-crime book of the same name by Rebecca Godfrey. Series creator Quinn Shephard and showrunner Samir Mehta and Liz Tigelaar serve as executive producers. Keough and Gina Gammell, via Felix Culpa, serve as executive producers. Stacey Silverman of Best Day Ever is also an executive producer. Godfrey receives an executive producer credit posthumously, as she passed away in November due to lung cancer at the age of 54. ‘Under the Bridge’ is produced by ABC Signature.
The series is about the 1997 true story of fourteen-year-old Reena Virk (Vritika Gupta), who was often bullied and teased for her looks and being overweight. On November 14, she went to join friends at a party and never returned home. She was kidnapped and beaten to death, and her body was found 8 days later, floating in the Gorge Inlet waterway. The show is viewed from Godfrey’s perspective to uncover the hidden world of the seven teenage girls and a boy accused of the savage murder, revealing startling truths about the unlikely killer.
Hulu will release two episodes of ‘Under the Bridge‘ on April 17, 2024, and the rest will drop weekly. Chloe Guidry, Izzy G, and Ezra Faroque Khan star alongside previously announced lead Riley Keough, who will play Godfrey.
